A Snellville woman is asking for donations after suffering recent complications from endometriosis.

Endometriosis is a female health disorder that occurs when cells from the lining of the uterus grow in other areas of the body, causing pain, irregular bleeding and infertility.

For Michelle Dominguez, the disease didn't really affect her until last year. The 32-year-old lived a fairly healthy life, she wrote on her GoFundMe campaign page, and she even has three children despite the disease's chances of causing infertility. But in October 2012, she was in the hospital for three weeks due to internal bleeding and blood clots in each of her lungs. She also was passing blood clots the size of tennis balls, not to mention she had a hysterectomy and two blood transfusions.

"I was not able to get out of bed and even walk because I would lose so much blood," she wrote.

Doctors gave her Lovinox shots in her stomach and placed her on blood thinner pills for 10 months. After recently being taken off to see how her body would react, she discovered that she has a genetic mutation which puts her at a higher risk to produce clots. She's been in and out of the hospital the last few months, and she now has a leaking valve in her heart and another blood clot in her lung.

To maintain her blood levels, Dominguez said she needs to take blood thinners and other medicines for the rest of her life.

While she needs help with the cost her medication now, she's also been told about a new medication that could help her further so that she doesn't need a lifetime of treatments.
