Eastside Medical Sends Christmas Cheer to Troops

Staffers have donated food, clothing, toiletries, iTunes gift cards, DVDs, books and games in order to fill more than 80 stockings for two platoons overseas.

In appreciation for those fighting for the United States, the employees of Eastside Medical Center in Snellville have adopted two overseas platoons to help spread the Christmas cheer.

The Eastside staff have donated food, clothing, toiletries, iTunes gift cards, DVDs, books and games in order to fill stockings for the overseas soldiers, according to a news release. As of Saturday, more than 80 stockings were stuffed to the brim including two stockings that were over four feet in length.

Each of these platoons, which are currently stationed in Afghanistan serving in the Army and Marines, have family members that work at Eastside and also represent family members of past patients.

“Eastside employees have a proud history of caring for those in our community,” says CEO Kim Ryan. “Now our caring has reached beyond our own borders to those who give to protect our freedom.  We hope that these stockings will give them a 'taste of home' and bring much joy this Christmas season.”
