Great Running Trails in Georgia – Lullwater Park

Read all about how a park in the middle of the city can help you escape the hectic everyday rat race and get back to nature for a bit.

I have a serious love for trail running. Trail running is almost like an amusement park for my feet! In the next few weeks I am going to go through a few running trails that are great here in the state of Georgia that I have personally experienced.

According to Serious Running, Lullwater Park is the #1 trail run in the state. This excellent park is nestled right in the heart of Emory’s University Campus. I have run here and it is absolutely beautiful! There are some paved paths you may run on that go alongside a calm Candler Lake, bathing geese that drop in for a swim. You can run down by Pevine Creek and see the waterfall, run through the gorgeous trees and finally by Emory’s president’s magnificent mansion that seems to overlook the park.

After you have explored the paved paths you should most certainly explore the off road paths. There is an incredible 210 foot long suspension bridge that was put up in 2008. This bridge leads you across Pevine Creek and through the woods to an old mill that is situated by the dam on South Fork Peachtree Creek. It is very easy to forget that you are in Atlanta at all in this peaceful park that is always bustling with wildlife and all different species of birds.
