Great Running Trails in Georgia – Stone Mountain Park

Do you know what all trails are available at Stone Mountain for hiking and running? Check out maps and all kinds of other things to do here at the park with your family and friends!

Stone Mountain Park features 15 miles of hiking and walking trails throughout the entire park. This includes the one-mile trail that starts at the Confederate Hall Historical & Environmental Education Center and goes to the very top of the mountain. This trail is very popular for anyone visiting the park.

There are many runners that use this trail to sprint to the top and back down again. Some people do this multiple times in one day. If you don’t feel you can make the hike to the top but want to see the view, take a ride on the Summit Skyride to the top of the mountain.

As much as I love the trail to the top of Stone Mountain, I almost prefer the 5-mile trail named the Cherokee Trail that goes through the woods, around the lake, past the Grist Mill, past the children’s playground and then over part of the mountain. This trail is a little more secluded and very adventure filled.

Besides the great trails that are provided here at Stone Mountain, there are plenty of other things to do while at the park. Stone Mountain Park puts on a spectacular laser show every night during the summer and then only on the weekends after school is back in session through the end of October.
