Moms Talk: Keeping a Schedule

This week's discussion focuses on how working moms keep kids on schedule.

Busy working moms have all been in the uncomfortable position of trying to maintain a schedule for their children while trying to juggle the responsibilities of career, house and personal relationships, and it's often becomes difficult to find the right balance when life can be so hectic.

Research has shown that children function better with a consistent routine than those who live in less-organized households, but often we parents are at a loss on just how to stay on track. Sometimes, because there appears to be a gross disproportion of hours in the day to accomplish paperwork, homework, dinner, teeth-brushings and baths, we tend to become frazzled and frustrated. Even the kids seem to be more hyper and wired when chaos ensues.

We often find ourselves longing for order but daily interruptions such as after-school events, medical appointments, unexpected visitors or working later than normal, can make a proper schedule impossible to keep and any well-tailored routine to unravel at the seams.
