Thomas L. Smith, 67, of Snellville

Obituary: Smith was an air traffic controller and a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for more then 21 years.

Master Sergeant Thomas L. Smith, age 67, of Snellville, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013. 

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Virginia Smith, and son, Thomas Oscar Smith, both of Snellville; son- and daughter-in-law, Mark and Dreama Smith of Canton' grandsons, Caden Smith and Logan Smith; numerous Smith and Stevenson aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his son Roldan F. Smith who passed away due to illness in the Philippines on October 13, 2013. 

Thomas was born in Atlanta and was a graduate of Auburn University. He retired after serving 21 ½ years as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. He retired as a Supervisor for the Gwinnett County 911 center.

Thomas always loved his jobs. He loved and enjoyed working out at Fitness 19, golfing, hockey, movies and eating. He was an avid Auburn football fan. He never asked for much but gave all, he loved to be loved. Most of all he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. 

A Funeral Service to Honor and Celebrate the Life of Master Sergeant Thomas L. Smith will be at 9:30 am on Wednesday, November 13, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Snellville. Dr. Mike Garrett and Rev. Nicole Lock will officiate.

Interment will follow at 12:30 pm. at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2208 East Main Street in Snellville.
