GAC Boys Basketball Team Wins Arby's Classic

The Arby's Classic is one of the most prestigious high school basketball tournaments in the nation. Sixteen of the top high school basketball programs from the U.S., including a couple of international teams (from Bahamas and Germany) are invited to compete. The Spartans have competed in the tournament before but this is GAC's first time to win the Arby's Classic title.

The Spartans defeated Milton 63-56 in the tournament finals to clench the title after 3 consecutive wins over other outstanding teams (Tabernacle Baptist from the Grand Bahamas, Hamilton High School from Memphis, and Oak Ridge High School from TN).

The MVP of the tournament was senior Isaiah Wilkins as his stellar performance dominated the court throughout the tournament. Tyler Hamilton, Troy Morrison and Isaiah Wilkins made the All-Tournament Team. The Spartans are now 14-0 on the season. This is a significant achievement for Coach Eddie Martin and for GAC. Some could argue that this is one of the top athletic team achievements in our school's history considering the national reputation of the Arby's Classic. While winning state championships at season's end will always mean more, winning this tournament amounts to claiming a national, even international, championship title.
