Inside the Police Reports: Armed Robbery at Snellville Waffle House

The crime occurred on Aug. 10 and is still under investigation.

Around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 10, a Friday night, Snellville Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the on 2554 West Main Street.  

The suspect was described as a black male wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black bandana and armed with a silver handgun. He was last seen fleeing on foot toward a wooded area behind a neighboring business. He is between 5'5 and 5'7 and weighs between 140-160 pounds.

Snellville detectives are looking into whether this may be related to the but nothing has been confirmed at this time, according to Snellville PD's Cpl. Greg Perry.

Officer J. Siegel questioned a witness who was an employee of the restaurant.  The witness stated that he was sitting at the bar of the restaurant when he observed a short, black male enter the building. He said he knew they were going to be robbed because "the suspect wore a hooded sweatshirt and a bandana," according to the police report.

The suspect walked up to the cash register, displayed his weapon and demanded the money. When the witness tried to get up, the suspect said, "No, you sit down."

When a female employee behind the register gave the money to the suspect, he demanded to have more, but there was none left.  The suspect then fled the scene.  Due to the windows being fogged up, the witness did not see where the suspect went next.

Another female employee was visibly shaken and was having trouble speaking. She stated that she was terrified and froze while the suspect was inside the store. 

The suspect turned back to say he was "sorry he had to do this." He left with $251. 

Fingerprints were obtained, along with other evidence. Police located a roll of dimes, quarters and a $20 bill next to a dumpster at the neighboring carwash that the suspect left behind. 

Surveillance video confirmed the witness' testimony and will be used as further evidence.
