Caregiver Arrested, Charged with Neglect in 2013 Death of Disabled Snellville Man

Jason Bankston was wanted in connection with the death of John Hammond Steele.

A Snellville man has been arrested and charged with neglect of an disabled adult who died last year.

Jason Andre Bankston was arrested by Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office deputies Thursday, April 24, according to an agency spokesperson. He was released on Friday after posting bond.

According to a sheriff’s office press release, Snellville Police responded to a person down report on July 14, 2013, and found the body of John Hammond Steele, 44, at 2131 Buckley Trail.

Snellville PD’s investigation resulted in a warrant for Bankston. He was charged with Neglect of a Disabed Adult/Elder Person.

Bankston was Steele’s caregiver.
