Driver Charged in Child's Death at Lenora Park

Tekila Glass, of Riverdale, has been charged with vehicular homicide in the death of 1-year-old Olivia Hellwig.

The driver of a car that struck and killed a 1-year-old toddler at Snellville's Lenora Park was arrested and charged Thursday, according to Gwinnett County police records. 

Tekila Glass, of Riverdale, was charged with vehicular homicide and improper backing in the Sept. 17 accident near the football complex at Lenora Park, according the county's detention center website. Olivia Hellwig's mother, Brooke, was pushing the child in a stroller across a parking lot when the accident happened.

The child later died at a hospital from her injuries. A vigil was held in her memory on Sept. 21; her funeral followed the next day. 

Glass was held -- and later released Thursday evening -- on a total security bond of $8,650.

Initially, police said that it appeared both Glass and Brooke Hellwig were at fault. However, additional witnesses later came forward with new information.
