Gas Leak Closes Burger King

A gas leak from the soda machine forced employees and dining guests to leave the Main Street restaurant Wednesday evening.

Firefighters responded Wednesday evening to a report from an employee of a gas leak at the in Snellville.

The leak was reported about 7:52 p.m. and crews arrived five minutes later.

On arrival, fire fighters found that the business had already been evacuated by staff. There were four employees and three dining guests who left the building for safety, according to a press statement from fire officials.Β

Firefighters, including hazmat technicians, quickly located and isolated the leaking line. They determined that carbon dioxide was leaking from the fountain drink station.

Crews then ventilated the business until levels returned to normal. However, management plans to no re-open until the unit can be repaired or replaced. That could possibly happen in the morning, officials said.Β  Β

Rescue workers transported one teenage worker to a local hospital for a minor injury complaint. There were no other injuries reported.

No other buildings were involved.

The incident was under control by 8:26 p.m.
