Authorities had to block off Rosedale Road and Clairmont Circle after two possible hand grenades were found in a vacant Snellville-area home last week.
According to the Gwinnett County Police report, a Loganville woman and her husband discovered the explosives while they were cleaning out a house off Rosedale Road. The home belonged to a friend who had recently passed away and loved to collect guns, ammunition and other weapons.
After finding the grenades in a box in one of the bedrooms, the wife said she didn't believe they were real until she picked them up. After noticing a weight difference, she told her husband and they called authorities.
After assessing the grenades, the hazardous device unit concluded that one was inert and the other was a training grenade. They were removed from the scene.
