Gun Found in Gwinnett County Jail Cell

The gun was found in a holding cell before it could make to the general jail population.

Gwinnett County sheriff's deputies report finding a gun in a holding cell at the jail on Monday.

Police believe Andre Rose, of Duluth, is the person responsible for bringing the firearm into the jail, according to a press release. The gun turned out to be stolen, police said.

Police located the weapon before it could make it to general inmate housing area.

In addition to several traffic infraction, Rose was charged with theft by receiving stolen property (a felony), crossing the guard line with drugs or weapons (a felony), and carrying a deadly weapon in a public gathering (a misdemeanor).

On Friday afternoon, Rose remained in jail on the more serious charges and a $12,700 bond, according to jail records.
