Home Receives Heavy Damage in Blaze

No one was injured in the house fire on Fernbrook Drive in Snellville.

A Snellville home was extensively damaged during a house fire Monday evening, but no one was injured, according to a press statement from Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services.

When crews arrived about 4:16 p.m., the two-story home, at the 3500 block of Fernbrook Drive, had heavy flames and smoke billowing from the roof of the first level. A next door neighbor had reported the house fire to officials.

Crews were able to keep the blaze from moving to nearby homes, and when conditions were better, firefighters entered the home to look for victims and to help control the fire from within the home.

All residents of the home were accounted for, and the occupant declined Red Cross assistance, according to the press statement. There were no injuries reported.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
