Homes Burglarized in Nearby Lake Lucerne Area

Three homes along Lake Lucerne Road were allegedly burglarized last month with similar entry points.

Three homes near Lake Lucerne Road were allegedly broken into on the same day last month, with entry believed to be through windows.

The same-day burglaries took place on Sept. 22 at the following locations: the 1900 block of Lake Lucerne Road, the 4700 block of Geneva Drive and the 1600 block of Oleander Drive.

The 40-year-old victim living on Lake Lucerne Road told police that his home was allegedly burglarized between 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. when he wasn't home that Thursday. According to the police report, bottles of cheap whiskey and vodka, two digital Nikon cameras, two Maglite flashlights and 30 DVDs were missing.

A Gwinnett County police officer noticed a rear window was closed but not locked, which is believed to be the crime's entry point.

The bathroom window of the Oleander Drive victim had been opened, too, with pry marks on the bottom of the window and a broken lock observed by police. The homeowner, 31, said she had left her home at 7 a.m. and arrived back at 6 p.m., which is when she noticed the open window. According to the police report, an assortment of expensive jewelry was taken.

The third victim, a 63-year-old woman on the 4700 block of Geneva Drive, said the burglary could have happened anywhere from 4 a.m. Sept. 22 to 7 p.m. Sept. 25 while she was on vacation. Continuing the forced entry point of the other two burglaries, the lock on her rear kitchen window had been broken.

Two digital cameras costing $800 were allegedly stolen, similar to the robbery on Lake Lucerne Road.

Another home in the area, located on the 4800 block of Alpine Drive, had an attempted burglary reported Sept. 27. A woman heard a car pull up to her next-door neighbor's house around 1:30 p.m., and she saw three black males, dressed in all black, attempt to enter the home through her backyard and garage door.

When the neighbor asked what they were doing, they said they knew the homeowner and needed a tire. Even with this explanation, the three quickly went back to their car and drove off.

The neighbor then called police and the homeowner, and they concluded the three suspects had gained access to her garage through a backdoor but not the actual home, says the report. Nothing was reported taken.

Aside from being dressed in all black, the neighbor told police that the three men all had dreads with light brown tips.

There are no suspects for any of the cases at this time.
