House Fire Reported at 2000 Block of Windsor Court

Two adults and three children have been displaced from their home.

Firefighters responded to a call at 12:43 a.m.  During last night's severe thunderstorm, they saw a lightning bolt very nearby accompanied by loud thunder.

The homeowner checked out the home and found fire in the attic.  The residents quickly evacuated the home and the homeowner dialed 911. 

When firefighters arrived they found flames shooting through the roof.  The quickly entered and battled the blaze while preventing it from spreading to more houses.

Electrical power lines were down and in the middle of the street, making the conditions very hazardous.  

After great effort on the part of the firefighters, they were able to save the majority of the home.

There was moderate damage to the attic and light damage to contents from the fire and firefighting efforts. 

No injuries were reported.  Five family members -- two adults and three children -- are displaced until their insurance company assesses the house. 

Red Cross was notified of the situation.
