Justice is Served in Series of Home Burglaries in Harbor Oaks Subdivision

Last June, policer officers received a call just after 10 p.m. concerning a burglary in progress on Williamsdown Circle in the Harbor Oaks area. 

In his possession he had a ski mask and a weapon stolen from another nearby residence. 

Schlicher admitted that he had entered the residence and stolen four beers, but only meant to “scare” one of the residents, according to Chief Roy Whitehead last June. He was apprehended without any injury to police, citizens or the suspect. 

"Luckily for us, our immediate neighborhood is very close," said Vicki Pomeroy, one of the victims in the burglaries, "and when our neighbor next door saw our dog Skipper running around, he knew something was wrong and contacted the police."

Schlicher went to trial on Oct. 8 and was convicted of three of the break-ins, along with possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime, according to Pomeroy, who was present at the trial. He was sentenced to twenty years, with a minimum of eight years served.

He was also ordered to pay financial restitution to two of the victims that had been robbed.

"Overall, I believe that the residents of Harbor Oaks were satisfied with the final outcome of the trial," said Pomeroy. "It took a long time but it seems to have brought an end to the rampage."

James Schlicher, the suspect’s brother, was also charged with a previous burglary of the house on Harbor Oaks.
