Morning Fire Destroys Home, Two Cars

A morning fire on Golfe Links Drive destroyed a two-story wood frame home, but there were no serious injuries.

An early morning fire destroyed a two-story Snellville home and two cars parked in the garage, but a husband and wife living there escaped safely.

The fire, which happened at the 3400 block of Golfe Links Drive, started in the corner of the garage, according to fire officials. The husband living there initially attempted to put the fire out with buckets of water, but he was unsuccessful.

Emergency workers responded to the blaze at approximately 4:28 a.m. Three engine trucks, a ladder truck and two medic ambulances were among the responding team.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke and flames were billowing from the first floor, as well as the garage area. It took a little over an hour to get the fire under control.

Despite the quick action of the husband and the firefighters, the home and the two cars inside the garage are a total loss.

The wife was later transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time, and fire officials are continuing to investigate.
