News Nearby: 'Rip Off' May be Behind Gwinnett Homicide

Gwinnett County Police are calling the Lawrenceville incident an apparent homicide; the suspect may have been been retaliating after being "ripped off."

On Tuesday evening, Gwinnett County Police found the body of a 22-year-old black male in unincorporated Lawrenceville.

Police were responding to a call of "shots fired" around Bridge Walk Drive and Oak Road. They searched the area and found the body of Rashad Jones of Lawrenceville near the tennis courts.

During their investigation, police talked to several people and potential suspects who said the motive behind the killing may have been a rip off involving a scam.

GCPD's Cpl. Edwin Ritter said neither the suspects nor the victim lived in the neighborhood.
