News Nearby: Loganville Mother Shoots Burglar Several Times

A burglar was shot by a Loganville homeowner Friday morning. She was hiding in an attic space and shot him when he located her.

UPDATE: According to Walton County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Keith Brooks, the young mother shot the burglar after he broke into her Loganville home Friday morning. Brooks said deputies were called in on a report of a burglary in progress.

The home was in the Henderson Ridge subdivision off south Sharon Church Road.

"She was aware he was trying to break into the home and took the children and hid in an attic space with them, but he found her," Brooks said, adding that was when she shot him. "She then ran to a neighbor with the children and he left in a car."

Brooks said the burglar subsequently wrecked the car in the woods, which is where the deputies found him.

"He was conscious and alert when we got to him," Brooks said, adding they are withholding the name of the burglar for the moment. The Walton Tribune reported that it was a 32-year-old Loganville man and that he was in a critical condition after being shot five times. WSBTV is reporting his name is Paul Slater, of Atlanta, and that he has a record. He also has been listed as a Snellville resident in previous mug shots.

"MWTW", with all due respects, you might be just a bit paranoid. I think your strongly held position about guns is causing you to read more into the proposed legislations than is actually there. That said, I'm glad my ultimate trust is in God, rather than a firearm. God bless you.

David: Thank you for your well wishes. You definately read too much into my comment I was simply pointing out that "there has been much discussion about eliminating all guns" while you insinuated there hasn't been. I personally see no chance for Feinstein or any of the libs getting this agenda through, although I do expect changes for assult rifles. You assume way too much about my position or any fears you think I have. It is typical for liberals to attack the person as opposed to discussing the idea. God bless you for putting your faith in God and I pray you never have a need for self protection (Many innocent, God Fearing Christians have died defensively for no fault of their own). I put my faith in Him, but know that not everyone does and therefore will protect myself against those that have no faith.

"MWTW", you assumed way too much yourself. You're incorrect in labeling me a liberal. I am liberal on the issue of gun control, however. Overall, I'm a moderate. I am opposed to abortion. I am opposed to same-sex marriage. I believe divorce is the destruction of a family. I prayed regularly for President Bush and his family. I even support the justifiable action of the Loganville mother in shooting Paul Slater. I am an active member of a Bible-believing church. I read my Bible every day.

As I said once already. God Bless You, and I pray you never need protection from those that are not believers. They do not have your values and will not hesitate to harm you or your family for personal gain.

The latest news on this is, he broke into the front door, heard the mother talking on the phone and then proceeded to find her. In doing this he had to break open the locked bedroom door, the locked bathroom door and open the crawl space door. If he only wanted items to steal, why go to all the trouble to find this person? There was more on his mind than just items to steal. Can you imagine what was going through this mother's mind while he was getting closer? I pray she finds peace in her mind as to what she HAD to do to protect her children and herself. I hope I never have to find out, but I'm ready if I do.
