Police: Bandits Steal $500K Worth of Jewels from Snellville Store

Police are hoping the public can help them find the two wanted suspects.

Gwinnett County police are reporting that two suspects made off with $500,000 in jewelry from a Snellville store last week, and officials now need the public's help.

The armed bandits forced employees on the ground while they stole expensive merchandise from the Kay Jewelers at The Shoppes at Webb Gin, according to a police report obtained by Patch. About $200 in cash also was stolen.

The incident took place about 10 a.m. on June 5, 2013, when the two unidentified suspects -- a man and a woman -- entered the Scenic Highway business.

The police report states that the male suspect posed as a customer asking about Father's Day gifts. At the time, one of the employees was standing at the watch case.

The male suspect then pulled out a gun, and pushed both employees to the ground. That's when the female accomplice entered, the report states.

The female suspect used one of the employees' keys to open the jewelry cases, while the male suspect forced another employee to open the store's safe and cash registers.

Before leaving, the female suspect used a stun gun on both of the victims, who were already restrained by zip ties, the police report indicates.

"The two suspects calmly walked out of the store and into the parking lot," police said in the report. It is unclear what type of vehicle the suspects use.

The male suspect is described as 24 to 30 years old, and was seen wearing tan-colored pants, a white shirt with blue-checkered stripes, a tan, brimmed hat and sunglasses.

The female suspect is described as 24 to 30 years old, and was seen wearing black jeans, black shoes, a yellow shirt with a screen print on the front and a gray baseball cap.

Anyone with information on the crime or the suspects should contact Gwinnett County police. The non-emergency number to the department is 770-513-5000.
