Police: Man Tries to Lure Snellville Girl Into Car at Lilburn Church

A suspect allegedly drove off as soon as he saw the 10-year-old's mother walking toward her daughter.

A 10-year-old girl told Lilburn Police that an unknown man had tried to coerce her into his car earlier last week while at a local church.

According to the Lilburn Police report, the Snellville girl, was rollerblading in the parking lot of the First Baptist Church of Lilburn at Young Street and Pine Street around 7:40 p.m. last Saturday (June 1). There with her was her mom, who noticed a gray Dodge Charger driving in the area several times.

While the mother was away, the vehicle stopped next to her daughter and the driver started talking to her. He asked her if she wanted to race him because his car was fast, and he also told her that she looks like a model.

As the girl pointed him out to her mom, the driver attempted to shield his face and sped off. They attempted to follow him to get his tag number, but they lost sight of him.

Lilburn Police Chief Bruce Hedley told Patch that he doesn't recall any other cases similar to this one occurring in Lilburn recently, but as of the early evening on June 5, they are still looking for the suspect to bring him in for questioning.

According to the mother and daughter, the male suspect had a medium-black complexion with freckles and was in his mid-30s. He wore a black shirt, blue jeans, a gold wedding band, and red and gray Jordan sneakers. The gray Dodge Charger he was driving had shiny wheels and no tint to the windows.
