Police: Pinestraw, Paper Used to Start Fire Near Snellville Church

A woman at Westminister Presbyterian Church reported the fire last week.

Police believe someone started a fire using pinestraw and notebook paper outside a Snellville church last week.

According to the Snellville Police report, a 58-year-old woman at Westminister Presbyterian Church on Main Street reported the fire last Tuesday morning (Nov. 12). She told police that she was at the Fellowship Center when she smelled the smoke.

She went downstairs and didn't see a fire, so she went outside and saw a small fire against the door. She retrieved a bucket of water and put the fire out.

The woman nor the officer saw anyone in the area near the flames.

The officer noted pinestraw and notebook paper was used to start the fire. There was no damage to the door or building.
