Robbers Strike Waffle House in Stone Mountain Area

The robbery, at Rockbridge Road and Highway 78, is the 18th at a Waffle House in the past two weeks, according to WSBTV.

One more day, one more Waffle House robbed.

Waffle House #307 at 1945 Rockbridge Road in unincorporated Stone Mountain was robbed early this morning, according to police. It is unknown if this robbery is connected with a string of others that have occurred in the Atlanta area, including in the City of Norcross.

A Gwinnett Police incident report says that the robbery occurred between 5:15 and 5:30 a.m.  This could bring the total number of recent Waffle House robberies to 18.

Officer S.D. Martin was called to the Waffle House while the robbery was still in progress, according to the report. Two employees were camped out on the roof when he arrived, afraid to reenter the store.

One employee said he was taking a break and talking on a cell phone when a man approached him with a T-shirt tied around his face.  The robber apparently pulled out a black gun, saying, “You better run before I kill you.” The employee ran inside to warn a co-worker and both fled to the roof of the building.

Police were able to review surveillance footage of two black men entering the building. The suspects were not able to open the register but did make off with an employee’s laptop.

One of the men is described as wearing a green shirt and camouflage hat. He was wearing black shorts and black shoes with white trim. The other suspect was described in the report as wearing a red cap with a black shirt pulled over his face.

Metro news station 11 Alive reports that the total number of Waffle House stores robbed is now 18, though Patch is still working to confirm that number. Different agencies are involved with the investigation, including the Norcross Police Department.

Waffle House is now offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest or conviction. If the suspects are seen, police ask that the public call 911. Anyone with tips should call the Norcross PD tip line at 770-448-6457.
