Suspect Throws Smoke Bomb During Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

The robbery happened about 11 a.m. July 9 at a bank in the Centerville area of Snellville.

Gwinnett County police are searching for a person suspected in a morning robbery at a Wells Fargo bank in the Snellville area.

According to Gwinnett County police, the robbery happened about 11 a.m. July 9, when in unidentified man entered the bank and demanded money. The bank is located at 3520 Centerville Highway in the unincorporated area of Snellville.

"As the suspect entered the bank, he ignited two incendiary type devices that burned and created smoke," said Cpl. Edwin Ritter, Gwinnett County spokesman. "The suspect demanded money from a teller.

"The suspect then ran out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of money in an unknown direction."

There were no injuries reported.

Officials said that investigators with the Gwinnett County Police Robbery Unit, Gwinnett County Fire/Arson Investigators and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms are following up on leads.
