Robbery Was Possible Motive in Fatal Shooting of Suspected Drug Dealer

Witnesses saw 2 or 3 males enter Antonio Macklin's home near Snellville, then flee after the shooting.

Gwinnett Police are investigating an early morning shooting near Snellville that killed a man who was a suspected drug dealer.

Antonio Macklin, 35, of Lithonia was dead at the scene of the shooting, which police say occurred around 1 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at 4407 Haynes Circle in unincorporated Gwinnett near Snellville.

Police say robbery was the likely motive. Several witnesses said Macklin was a known drug dealer.

“Witnesses stated that two to three unknown males, wearing dark camouflage, entered the home brandishing guns,” Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpt. Ed Ritter said in a media release. “An altercation took place with the victim and the victim was ultimately shot by one of the suspects and died on scene. The suspects fled from the scene after the shooting.”
