Fifth Person Arrested in Armored Car Robberies

Edward Thornton, a fifth suspect named in the Gwinnett County armored car robberies, is being detained in DeKalb County.

Edward Thornton, the fifth person named in connection to a string of armored car robberies in Gwinnett County, surrendered to police on Friday, according to a press statement from the DeKalb County police.

Gwinnett County police say Thornton, 28, faces two counts of armed robbery in the county. In addition, DeKalb County have charged Thornton in the Jan. 21 robbery of a Wells Fargo on Redan Road and in the March 15 armored car robbery in Toco Hills that left 32-year-old armored car guard Gary Castillo dead.

In the DeKalb County press release the suspect name is spelled Edwin Thornton. With his attorney, Thornton turned himself in shortly before 11 a.m., according to DeKalb County police.

He is currently being detained at the DeKalb County Jail, and charged with six felonies there. His first court appearance date and time has not been determined.

  • Stacey Dooley, 34, of Snellville, is charged with seven felonies in Gwinnett County, where he is being detained. In addition, he faces charges in two armed robberies in DeKalb County, including a murder charge. He also faces two felonies in Cobb County, and a probation violation in North Carolina.Β 
  • Quentin Booker, 34, of East Point, is charged with six felonies in Gwinnett County, where he is being detained. In addition, he faces charges in one armed robbery in DeKalb County and in another armed robbery in Cobb County.
  • Ashley Henderson, 27, of Atlanta, is charged with six felonies in Gwinnett County, where he is being detained. In addition, he faces charges in two armed robberies in DeKalb County.
  • Veronica Bullard, 32, of Lithia Springs, is being detained in Cobb County, where she faces charges of armed robbery and consipiracy to committ armed robbery. Bullard had worked at Dunbar Armored, which is located in Norcross. She faces at least one count of party to the crime of armed robbery in Gwinnett County.

Multiple jurisdictions, including Gwinnett County police, have been involved in investigating and apprehending suspects in the string of robberies across metro Atlanta.
