Snellville Apartment Fire Displaces Two Adults, Two Teens

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.

Officers responded to an apartment fire at 3000 Destin Circle in Snellville on Dec. 12. 

Following the original call at 7:28 p.m., it took over half an hour to bring the blaze under control. Crews found heavy smoke and flames billowing from an apartment on the right corner of the building, according to Captain Tommy Rutledge. 

Firefighters immediately deployed hoselines to battle the blaze and entered the burning unit. They also entered three neighboring apartments to check for fire and to prevent it from spreading. They worked aggressively to keep the flames from extending to the adjoining units.

According to Rutledge, one occupant was in the apartment at the time of the fire, and he escaped unharmed. The exact cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation.

The Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance for the family, which included two adults and two teens. It is unknown at this point as to whether the occupants in the adjoining units will be displaced overnight.

There were no injuries reported.
