Snellville Man Arrested in Lawrenceville Gambling Bust

One Snellville resident and three Lawrenceville men were arrested on charges related to illegal gambling being run out of a Lawrenceville business.

Gwinnett County Police arrested four people following a gambling bust at a Lawrenceville restaurant.

According to GCPD Cpl. Jake Smith, the Vice Unit executed a search warrant at Mike's Mexican Grill on Cruse Road Thursday. Inside the restaurant, investigators found electronic gambling machines that were giving out cash payouts for winning, which is illegal in the state of Georgia. 

The restaurant's owner, Naveed Ahmed, of Snellville was arrested and charged with keeping a gambling place, possession of gambling devices and commercial gambling.

An employee, Ma De Jesus Garcia of 2767 Herrington Woods Ct in Lawrenceville, was also arrested. She was charged with possession of gambling devices, keeping a gambling place, commercial gambling and alcohol regulations manager/employee.

Two other men were arrested and charged with gambling according to Smith. They are Martin Duarte-Jaimes, 2706 Titon Way, Lawrenceville and Geiser Nayur Garcia-Plego, Apt 9211 1564 Herrington Rd, Lawrenceville.
