Snellville Woman Dies in Car Crash

U'Lawnda R. Lewis, 40, died at the scene of a head-on collision Friday.

A 40-year-old Snellville woman has been identified as the driver killed in a car crash over the weekend near Grayson.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, at around 10:30 p.m. Friday (Nov. 1), a pickup truck veered into oncoming traffic and slammed headfirst into U’Lawnda R. Lewis' car on Highway 78 near Haynescrest Drive. She died at the scene. 

A 17-year-old passenger in Lewis' car was transported to the hospital after receiving a head laceration. He is believed to be her son, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. Charges against the truck's driver, Loganville resident Thomas Embry, were still being investigated as of Monday (Nov. 4). 

Lewis was preceded in death by her mother and is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Lewis Sr., of 10 years, according to her obituary. Read her full obituary on Patch.
