Ten Children Displaced After Fire

A woman and ten children need new housing after a Sunday fire completely destroyed their Snellville home.

Ten children and adult are displaced following a Sunday afternoon at the 4000 block of Zoar Church Road in Snellville.

Firefighters responded to the home at approximately 1:36 p.m., after a woman called to report that her home was on fire.

Crews arrived minutes later and found an older split-level home with heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof. Crews were advised that everyone was out of the home when they arrived from the occupant.

Due to the heavy fire conditions, emergency workers decided to fight the fire from the outside. Soon after, flames were suppressed enough, and firefighters entered the home to control the remainder of the blaze. Β  Β  Β 

The home is a total loss. The fire displaced one adult female and a total of 10 children. The landlord arrived on the scene and will assist the family with relocation. Red Cross assistance was declined.

No injuries were reported.

Officials determined that the fire was accidental and started in the kitchen because of unattended cooking.
