Terroristic Threats Follow Man After He Moves to Snellville

On Nov. 12, a man contacted Snellville Police to report terroristic threats made over the phone. 

He told police that he has only lived at his home in Snellville for two weeks. He moved from New York, where he was scammed into believing that he had won multiple sweepstakes. He ended up giving over $20,000 to have his winnings delivered to him, but the winnings never arrived.

The victim, 74, stated that he sent money to a man know to him as "Ricky Barnes" while he was still in New York. Ever since the victim moved to Georgia, the suspect has been calling and requesting more money. He believes that his phone is tapped. 

He told police that the man called him that day and threatened him, saying that "if you don't give me the money, I will bomb and burn your house and kill your family."

While an officer was at the house, the suspect called. The officer heard the suspect tell the victim that he was going to come get him and kill him. The officer took the phone and stated who he was, to which the suspect responded that he didn't care who the officer was. 

When the officer told the suspect to stop calling the victim, the suspect said he would "do as he pleases because the law can't touch him," according to the incident report.

The officer indicated the man had what sounded like a Middle Eastern accent.

The victim was advised to get a new phone and not to answer the phone if the suspect called back.
