Incident Report:

Child molestation: A woman called Gwinnett police last week to report that a long-time friend of hers had sexually battered her daughter. The girl, about 13 years old, approached her mother at home to give her a written note stating that the man, , had called her downstairs while he was painting the family's house and forcibly kissed her, lifted her shirt and grabbed her breasts.

The mother confronted the man, who was still at the house. He stayed quiet for a moment, but eventually confessed to the situation. According to the mother, he was "testing the girl because she used to joke around that she felt older than she was." According to the report, he became very apologetic, telling the mother that "he would try to make things right," but the mother requested that he leave. She also showed police his apologies that were sent through text messages.

Gwinnett police spoke with the girl, who detailed what happened. An SVU meeting was set up so that investigators could interview the mother and daughter, too, and the mother gave police as much contact information as she could about the suspect. The suspect's arrest warrant for child molestation was ordered April 20, and the suspect, along with his attorney, came forward five days later to turn himself in. Police made the arrest and he was sent to the Gwinnett County jail.
