Video: Gwinnett Police Looking for Armed Robbery Suspects

Gwinnett Police say three men robbed a Wells Fargo bank in Lawrenceville, Ga. They have arrested one suspect and are still looking for two others.

One suspect in an armed robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in Lawrenceville last month is now in police custody. However, Gwinnett County Police are still looking for two potential accomplices in the crime.

On Friday, December 28th, two black males wearing masks walked into the Wells Fargo bank at 3065 Lawrenceville Highway just before 9:30am.

This branch is located in the parking lot of the Walmart Neighborhood Market.

The two men inside the bank have been identified by GCPD as 26 year old Jamar Terrell of 2769 Herrington Woods Road, Lawrenceville and 24 year old Marcus “Bankhead” Rutledge.

Police say Terrell is the suspect armed with a handgun and Rutledge is wielding a shotgun in the video. The two men forced bank tellers to fill a duffle bag with money. They left the bank with $12,262.09 in cash and checks. The robbery took just about one minute.

Officers responding to the scene caught up to the two men in a Pontiac Grand Prix and chased them for a short distance. The suspects abandoned the car belonging to Terrell at the intersection of Bethesda School Road and Cruse Road and ran off on foot and escaped.

Police recovered the car and found a bag of money with $10,422.08 in cash and checks inside along with the two guns investigators believe were used in the robbery.

Terrell was arrested on Saturday, December 29th and charged with armed robbery. He is currently in custody at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.

GCPD spokesperson Cpl. Jake Smith said they are also looking for 41 year old Thomas “T-Bird” Birdsong. Smith said Birdsong acted as a lookout in a silver 1992 Honda Accord.

“We believe the original plan was for Terrell and Rutledge to abandon the car in the grocery store parking lot and drive off with Birdsong,” said Smith. “They looked for him after coming out of the bank, didn’t see him and drove off in Terrell’s car. Terrell lived nearby and we believe the two were headed to his home.”

Rutledge and Birdsong have active warrants out for their arrest, however police have not yet located them.

Anyone with information on Rutledge and Birdsong, or the Honda Accord driven by Birdsong, are asked to contact Robbery Unit detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-557-TIPS (8477). If you should come in contact with either of these men, please call 911.
