Weird Police News: Carpet Stolen by Man Who Admired Victim's Hats

1. The carpet from an Athens residence was reported stolen after it had been pulled up from the floor and apparently stored in a shed. The owner believes the culprit was a neighbor who admired his hats. What? 

2. A patient of a Dacula-area medical clinic made it clear how angry she was after she was told to reschedule an appointment for which she was late. she said during one of the many calls she made to the clinic, according to the police report.

3. A neighbor of a Buford man facing numerous charges told police and yells. He was at it again recently. The neighbor, a man, told police that after he told the suspect to go back to his house and put the gun away, the man pointed the gun at him and threatened to kill him. Police asked the suspect what happened. He answered, “he was just drunk and it was OK,” according to the police report. The man faces charges of aggravated assault, reckless conduct and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

4. After leading deputies on a high-speed chase following a burglary in Walton County, a Statham 20-year-old came clean about a rash of burglaries in three counties. Suspecting there might be a link, Oconee County Sheriff’s investigators interrogated the suspect about the crimes. He spilled everything and later rode around with investigators for three hours detailing his crimes and their locations. He has been linked to at least 35 crimes in Oconee, Walton and Barrow counties, but says he acted alone.

5. Already in trouble for inappropriate sexual behavior, an Athens man had another charge added after a cell phone went off in his pocket. The man was accused of grabbing a woman in “her private area” and making inappropriate comments to her. The phone rang while he was being interviewed by officers. A man from Greenville, S.C., then approached, telling police his phone was stolen and he traced it to the suspect, who also had the man’s wallet. The suspect was charged with sexual battery and theft by receiving.

6. A Dacula woman ended up in jail after she told a gas-station employee she was an undercover cop in an attempt to get a gathering of teenagers kicked off the property. The clerk told police that the teens congregate there after school each day, spend money in the store and haven’t caused any problems. The woman claimed they were dealing drugs. She was arrested for impersonating an officer.

7. An Athens man passed out on the sidewalk was approached by police officers who tried to convince him to call for a ride home. “Really?” was the only answered the man gave, according to the police report. He was charged with public intoxication and public urination.

8. You don’t see this on a police report very often. The Walton County Sheriff’s Department was told that an armadillo was stuffed into a resident’s mailbox.

9. A man who was trying to intervene at a Buford bar where his female cousin was being thrown out by bouncers ended up being arrested on unrelated charges. The woman was being escorted out of the bar for “making a scene,” when the cousin and her husband tried to settle things down. But the confrontation escalated into a physical exchange, prompting a call to police.

When the suspect's name was run through the criminal database, he popped up as being wanted for invasion of privacy in Hall County.

10. Some friend. A Massachusetts man told DeKalb Police that a friend set him up to have another man rob him while he stayed at a Tucker motel. The victim let the two men in when the friend asked to borrow $10. The robber apparently forced the friends into the bathroom while he took $400 in cash, a laptop and cell phone. The "friend," a Lithonia man, then left, saying he wanted to get his cell phone back, but never returned.
