Snellville Woman Uses Phone App to Track Down Harassing Caller

The caller had been using a private number to call her in the wee hours of the morning.

A Snellville woman used a handy smartphone app to track down a caller who had been harassing her under a private number.

According to the Snellville Police report, the 30-year-old woman received the calls between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on a recent Wednesday. She told authorities that she received up to 20 calls from the private number.

Every time she answered, no one spoke on the other end of the call. She said she didn't know who could be doing it, so her friend suggested she use the Trapcall app on her phone.

And it worked: The next time she received a call from the private number, the phone number showed up with a 404 area code.

Unfortunately, the woman still doesn't know who was calling her, so she contacted police. The officer told her to call her cell phone company and have the phone number blocked.
