Update: 6 Candidates Qualify for Snellville City Council Seats

Three seats are on the ballot for the general election in November.

Monday marks the first day of the qualifying period for the November general election for the city of Snellville, and six candidates have qualified already for the open seats. 

Three seats are on the ballot for the city council, and those seats are currently held by Mayor Pro Tem Tom Witts, Councilman Bobby Howard and Councilman Mike Sabbagh. All three incumbents qualified Monday for re-election. 

Former Mayor Pro Tem and six-year councilwoman Barbara Bender qualified to run against Sabbagh's seat. Bender ran for the mayor's seat in 2011 against current Mayor Kelly Kautz, has served as vice president of the Snellville Tourism and Trade Association and is president of the Snellville Entrepreneur Council. She also is actively involved in the Snellville Veterans Memorial project,

Running for Witts' seat is Alisa Boykin. She is on the Snellville Public Arts Commission and the owner of Educational Arts Programs (EAP) of America. Snellville Patch did a profile on her last year.

Lastly, Dexter Harrison qualified to run against Howard. Harrison is a military veteran, a retiree from Piedmont Hospital and a former employee of AT&T.
