Balfour Found Not Guilty on All Counts

State Senator Don Balfour was acquitted on all 18 charges.

Georgia State Senator Don Balfour (R-Snellville) was found not guilty on all charges in his corruption trial Thursday (Dec. 19), reports 11Alive.com.

In September, Balfour, who represents parts of Snellville, Lilburn, Lawrenceville, Loganville, Grayson and Dacula, was indicted on 18 counts related to the misuse of his legislative account. Balfour was charged with illegally claiming expenses while working for the legislature. The charges alleged Balfour double-billed the State of Georgia and his employer Waffle House. The senator told jurors the inaccurate filings were a mistake and not intentional.

WSB-TV reports Gov. Nathan Deal lifted Balfour's suspension immediately so he may return to his political duties.
