Briscoe Park Upgrades, More Board Appointments on Snellville City Council Agenda

The first regular meeting and work session of the year will take place Monday evening.

The city council and mayor will meet Monday (Jan. 13) for their first meeting of 2014. 

The regular meeting will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of Snellville City Hall, located at 2342 Oak Road. A work session will precede it at 6:30 p.m. in conference room 145. 

The following items are on the work session agenda: 

  • Discussion of mayoral authorities and duties
  • Discussion about adding a police/taxi unit combo to the Snellville Police Department as a way to market reduced DUIs
  • Old police station property
  • Town green park renderings and design
  • Reappointment of Tod Warner to the Urban Redevelopment Agency
The following new business items are on the regular meeting's agenda: 
  • Improvements to the town green, with maximum costs being $25,000
  • The city adopting the Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce as the city's official chamber
  • Election of Mayor Pro Tem for 2014
  • Contract approval for design services of Briscoe Park Phase II B and Briscoe Master Plan update, costing a grand total of $153,000
  • Award of 2014 annual resurfacing bid for $499,302
  • Appointment of former Councilman Mike Sabbagh to the Snellville Public Arts Commission, sponsored by Kautz
  • Appointment of Rose Staples to the Urban Redevelopment Authority, sponsored by Kautz
  • Appointment of Penny Smith to the Urban Redevelopment Authority, sponsored by Kautz
  • Reappointment of Tod Warner to the URA, sponsored by Witts
