City Starts Partnership for Entrepreneurial Growth

Snellville is partnering with several local organizations to bring programs for entrepreneurs.

Snellville leaders announced today a partnership with local, regional and national experts that will connect entrepreneurs with mentors and resources to enchance business success.

Entrepreneur Advisors, a leading Atlanta advisory group for business leaders; , , Snellville Tourism and Trade, the Snellville Commerce Club, and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce will all be working with the city of Snellville to bring this new initiative to the public.

“Snellville is simply implementing the programs we hear Washington talk about,” said Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer, in a press release.  “The difference is, we are doing more than talking – we’re implementing a dynamic program that includes nurturing start ups, pitching ideas, refining business strategies, streamlining processes, and helping small businesses manage growth by creating partnerships with business development professionals.”

The inaugural partnership event will be a simulcast of Entrepreneur Advisor's education symposium and a luncheon held at South Gwinnett High School on may 20.

In addition to the network already created, the city wants to expand resources through future partnerships with colleges, universities and local businesses. Already, University of Georgia's Small Business Development Center and SCORE, an Atlanta company that provides business mentoring, are working with the Snellville to offer education for entrepreneurs. New business owners have the chance to learn more about commercialization, and obtain contacts for financing, sponsors, suppliers, and partners.

“Snellville’s work in entrepreneurship and small business development is a perfect complement to what we’re doing with the county’s strategic initiative, Partnership Gwinnett,” said Mark Farmer, director of entrepreneurship in Gwinnett Chamber's economic development department. “Connecting the various regional resources into one collaborative network is a key goal in fostering a culture of entrepreneurship in Gwinnett.”

Snellville leaders expect that the partnership will help create long-term advancement, growth and job creation for the city and immediate surrounding areas.

The May 20th symposium at South Gwinnett High School is 8 a.m. - noon, and the entry fee is $45. To find out more information about the symposium, or entrepreneur programs in Snellville, visit the city's website.
