Early Voting Begins in Snellville

Citizens of Snellville may begin advance voting now until November 4.

Snellville citizens may now start early voting.

Early voting begins 8 a.m. Monday, October 17 (today) for the 2011 November elections. There will be a general election to vote in new council members and a special election to vote on an alcohol sales referendum.

Although there are four posts open, including three council spots and the mayor's seat, only the mayor's race will be decided in the election. Because no one is running against the three council candidates -- for Post 1, for Post 2 and for Post 4, the three newbies are elected by default.

Mayoral candidates, and will still battle it out for the city's top elected spot. Both ladies had to step down from their council seats to run.

The special election will decided whether the city of Snellville . This would allow retailers in the city to sell wine and malt beverages on Sundays from 12:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

Residents may cast their advance vote 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on weekdays at until November 4, 2011.

Citizens may now request absentee ballots, as well.

For the city election, request should be made by November 4. A completed application must first be received before an absentee ballot is issued. For information on the county election, call 678.226.7210 or visit www.gwinnettcounty.com.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
