Elections are just around the corner!  Have you decided who you're voting for?  Snellville Patch has interviewed quite a few local candidates, with a focus on those who call Snellville home.

There are three candidates running for State Senate District 9:  Steve Ramey, Don Balfour and .   writes on his website that he is running for office because he is "not pleased with the current leadership in the Senate...the biggest reason I would like to be elected is to help break up what appears to be the good ‘ol boy cronyism that does not help the average citizen but promotes those that hold office."

Balfour has been in office for eighteen years and is the incumbent.  While he is currently under investigation for ethics violations, he said that "I still have not been allowed to go before the committee and defend myself... When I do, I am confident the committee will understand that a senator who gave up thousands of dollars in taxpayer-funded pension benefits had no intention of doing anything wrong in a matter of a few hundred dollars," according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

He is chairman of the Senate Rules Committee and serves on the Appropriations Committee, Education Committee and the Health and Human Services Committee.

Bowden, also a Snellville resident, said that he is passionate about returning jobs to Georgia.  Although he has not held office before, he is no stranger to politics.  “I feel like I understand the issues facing the district,” he said in a “and I feel like I can go in and be active and involved from day one.”

He has served as the Gwinnett County Republican Party Secretary and the Republican Liberty Caucus' regional director for 13 states.
