Get Out: A Look at What to Do This Weekend

The weekend is almost here; time to start planning.

The end of the school day Friday begins spring break for many, and if you completely forgot or just don't have anything planned, here are a few activities to make sure the break at least starts off right.

And even if you don't have kids, there are some events for the older crowd, too.

1."BROKEN TO WHOLE" SERMON SERIES

When/Where: April 3, 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., , 2428 Main Street East, Snellville. 

Why Go: As a message series during the 40 days of Lent, Snellville United Methodist Church will have a sermon that will celebrate and talk about a different subject every Sunday. This Sunday, grief and healing in "Where Does it Hurt?" (Psalm, 23) will be discussed through teaching, music, dance and video.

2. "ANNIE, GET YOUR GUN"

When/Where: March 31, 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.; April 1, 10 a.m.; April 2, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; , 4805 Stone Mountain Highway, Lilburn.

Why Go: Presented by the Artios Academies of Gwinnett, "Annie, Get Your Gun" is based on the famous Irving Berlin show on the Broadway stage. Even though it sticks to the original Wild West wrangle between Annie Oakley and Frank Butler, the Gwinnett version features a second romance to spice things up.

Pricing: Tickets range from $5 to $10, plus a convience charge of around $1. Order tickets at the door or online here.

 

3. MASONIC LODGE BREAKFAST

When/Where: Saturday, April 2, 7 a.m.-9:30 a.m., Masonic Lodge #449, 840 V.F.W. Drive, Stone Mountain.

Why Go: The Stone Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 449 welcomes everyone to its open breakfast held on the first Saturday of every month. Starting bright and early, everyone that comes can enjoy a traditional, country-style breakfast and meet with the members of the masonry.

Pricing: A donation of $4.50 is accepted.

 

4. STYLISH CONSIGNMENTS SEMI-ANNUAL $3, $2, $1 CHARITY SALE

When/Where: Sunday, April 3, noon-6 p.m., Stylish Consignments parking lot, 5514 Lawrenceville Highway, Lilburn.

Why Go: Purchase items at this Sunday's charity sale by Stylish Consignments and it will benefit those who need it. Out of everything sold, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Partners Against Domestic Violence, including the organization's children and youth programs. 

Pricing: Free to browse, of course.

5. KARAOKE AT SPOT BAR

When/Where: Friday, April 2, 9 p.m., Spot Bar & Grill, 4578 Britt Road, Tucker. 

Why Go: Friday is karaoke night at Spot Bar every week in Tucker. Grab a few friends, some appetizers and drinks and sing your heart out for everyone in the bar to dance to.
