Gwinnett Goes to Gingrich, Sunday Alcohol Sales Pass

Following the state, voters in Gwinnett County chose Newt Gingrich for their Republican presidential candidate. And, the sale of alcohol on Sundays can now move forward.

Newt Gingrich not only took Georgia, but he landed a majority of the votes in Gwinnett County -- though not more than 50 percent.

In Gwinnett County, Gingrich scored 47.33 percent of the vote. Mitt Romney trailed with 28.83 percent of the vote, while Rick Santorum received 16.65 percent of the vote. Ron Paul came in four place with a low 6.52 percent of the vote.

Across the county, some 74,234 voters cast their ballots for a Republican nominee, and 5,318 voted in the Democratic primary. In 2008, there were considerably more voters with 81,694 voting in the Republican primary and 68,998 voting Democratic.

In addition to the presidential primary, Gwinnett voters also considered whether to approve the sell of alcohol in store on Sunday.

That passed decidedly, with 67.69 percent of voters clicking yes.
