Local Post Office to Host Event for Atlanta-area Small Businesses

The Snellville Post Office will host "Grow Your Business Week," July 25-30.

The will host a special educational event for small-business owners July 25-30.

During "Grow Your Business Week," the Atlanta district office is inviting all small businesses, home-based businesses, entrepreneurs, and other customers to visit the Snellville location to learn more about the "Every Door Direct Mail" service, or EDDM. The service is a low-cost way for local businesses "to market to every address in their neighborhoods without the need to rent or purchase mailing lists," the U.S. Postal Service stated in a press release.

EDDM uses mail-delivery route data, instead of names and exact addresses, to reach specific groups in various geographic areas. The mail can be addressed to “Postal Customer,” “Residential Customer,” or “P.O. Boxholder” and dropped off at a post office.

"EDDM saves mail preparation time and money and is delivered by local, trusted USPS letter carriers," the U.S. Postal Service said.

Business owners can use an online tool at https://smp.usps.gov to identify recipients, prepare mailing documentation and calculate postage. There are no permits needed, or special fees.

The postal service said restaurants, doctors’ offices, hair salons, and others not currently using mail are ideal for using EDDM as direct-mail delivery.
