The following is a letter to the editor written by Snellville City Councilman Mike Sabbagh. After the general election last Tuesday (Nov. 5), Monday (Nov. 11) marks the last day of his term on the council.

Today marks my official day of service as a city council member in Snellville as the city will be swearing in three council members. Thank you for the opportunity in allowing me to serve this great city as your council member working with great leaders for the past four years. It has been an honor to be part of this city’s leadership serving you the citizens.

I am humbled to have sat at the city hall for the past four years alongside the mayor and council looking after what matters most. I will continue to be available to you if you ever so needed to reach me.

This is a new day. I will use this new time given to me to pay closer attention to other factors in my life that need my attention including my church and mission, teaching and being an advisor to my grown young sons. Rita and I have lots to do here in town and across this great land.

My time on council has been a great learning experience and provided me the chance to learn to embrace uncertainty and initiate positive changes that lead to growth. I appreciate all of the citizens who have been great mentors and all who have worked hard and diligently to make Snellville shine. I pray that God bless each and every one of you and bless this great town, my home sweet home.

Thank you all who have supported me and placed your trust in me. I am much obliged and grateful to you all. I am confident that with your continued help, support and participation, the next phase of our city’s plan will bring forth a fantastic future.

Thank you again for the time, kind words, warm handshakes, advice and friendship.
