If you haven't already shopped and shipped, or ordered and shipped, well, you are running out of time.

Of course, you can wait until the last minute, and pay last-minute prices, and cross your fingers that it actually arrives when you want (even if you ship express), but why feel that kind of angst?

Here's what you need to know about critcal shopper shipping dates:

United Parcel Service

December 22 Schedule (Last day for next-day service to reach your friends by Christmas. There is shipping on Saturday, but it must be noted on second-day shipping instructions.)

• Normal pickup and delivery service for air, international and ground packages.
• UPS Next Day Air packages picked up today will be delivered Friday, Dec. 23.
• UPS 2nd Day Air packages picked up today will be delivered Tuesday, Dec. 27 (except for those processed today and labeled for delivery on Saturday, Dec. 24).

December 23 Schedule

• Normal pickup and delivery service for air, international and ground packages.
• UPS Next Day Air packages picked up today will be delivered Tuesday, Dec. 27 (except those processed today and labeled for delivery on Saturday, Dec. 24).
• UPS 2nd Day Air packages picked up today will be delivered Wednesday, Dec. 28.
• Prearrange pickup today for air and international packages being shipped on Saturday, Dec. 24, via UPS On-Call Pickup service.

December 24 Schedule

• DELIVERY ONLY of UPS Worldwide Express, UPS Next Day Air and UPS 2nd Day Air packages processed and labeled for Saturday delivery.
• Pickup service provided for air and international packages if prearranged by Friday, Dec. 23, via UPS On-Call Pickup service.

December 25 Schedule

• No UPS pickup or delivery service, except UPS Express Critical service for urgent packages.
