Post Offices With Extended Hours Today

(Editor's Note: It has come to our attention that there are several versions of data provided by the United States Postal Service regarding locations open late on April 18. In addition, some postal stores have amended hours since this morning. It's safe to say, though, that the post office location near the Atlanta airport is open until 11:59 p.m. It is listed below.)

Surprise, surprise. Not every post office is open late today for those procrastinators who have waited until the last day to file your taxes. In fact, neither of the two Snellville locations are open late. Both the Centerville location and the city of Snellville location close at regular hours today, 5 p.m.

Here is a list of all the post offices in Georgia that are open late, and what the extended hours are. Lines are normally long on this day, and it would be a good idea to get there before rush hour time.

If you absolutely cannot make it to the post office, you can file your taxes online until the very last minute. However, e-filing systems get slammed on this day, and it can take a long time to get your taxes sent through cyber space. If you owe taxes (whether you request an extension to file or not) and want to pay by check, that still has to be postmarked today. Otherwise, you'll incur late-payment penalties.
