Public Has Another Chance to Comment on 2013 Budget

The public will have two more chances to comment on the 2013 budget.

On Monday, citizens had their first chance to give public comment during a special hearing regarding the city of Snellville 2013 budget.

The budget hearings relate to the operating and capital improvement budget for 2013.

The proposed revenue is $10.2 million, with taxes being the greatest source of funds at $7 million.

The proposed expenditures are $9.9 million, with the police department responsible for the greatest cost at $3.9 million.

Based on the budget, the city would have a net balance of $277,983.

In fiscal year 2012, the revenue was about $6.8 million and expenditures was $7.5 million.

The public will have additional public comment at the first-reading of the budget scheduled for June 11 and on June 18, when adoption of the budget is expected.
