Balfour, who faces two challengers in today’s District 9 Republican primary, issued the following statement to the media:

“Every single day thousands of soldiers protect our freedoms in places we don’t know and may never know; my son is no different from any of them. We should pray for our military, their spouses and children who so bravely defend our country and for God’s protection over every courageous brave man and woman. They are the reason we can lay our head down safely at night, we can educate our children freely and openly, and pursue our dreams without fear of persecution.”
